The Undefeated Shaker came into my possession on January 12, 2002 at the Auburn-Alabama basketball game in Beard Eaves. Auburn won the game 59-56, and I decided it would from then on be my Alabama game shaker. Later that year, in Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Undefeated Shaker and Tre Smith led Auburn to a 17-7 upset of the Crimson Tide. Following home wins in basketball and football against the Tide in 2003, I decided to let the Undefeated Shaker lose in 2004. It did not disappoint, and Auburn won all 10 games the Undefeated Shaker attended that season. Though it was officially retired after 2004, the Undefeated Shaker was in attendance at the 2005 Iron Bowl, a 28-18 win over the Crimson Tide, and strands of the Undefeated Shaker were at both the 2006 and 2007 Bama games, both wins. Since then the Undefeated Shaker has resided in a shoe box in the bottom of my closet, with strict instructions only to be removed in case of a BCS National Championship Game. Well, here we are, and the Undefeated Shaker is out, and will be in my hand when Auburn takes on Oregon tomorrow night in the desert. And to make sure I covered all my bases, strands of the Shaker will be at the game in my friend Jordan’s wallet.
War Eagle!
